Songs for new Franz Ferdinand record in the works

Members of the musical Scottish Franz Ferdinand haven't officially started working on a follow-up to Tonight, but new material is nevertheless in the works, reports BBC 6 Music.

:I'm writing songs, I don't know anyone who has a period of writing songs [while they are] promoting an album," says Alex Kapranos, Franz Ferdinand's lead singer. "If you write songs, you write songs and keep doing it. "

Kapranos didn't elaborate, but he hasn;t denied that a new record might be ready by early 2011.

The other members of Franz Ferdinand surely hope that the new disc would please both critics and fans.

Though their debut album was a bestseller, their heir first album that had sold well, their sophomore effort, You Could Have it So Much Better, didn't catch on the same way, though it was a worthy effort."
